You have to pull the steering wheel first. This is difficult to do without a steering wheel puller. I know as I have done it several times with out the puller. (Recently bought a puller.) After the steering wheel is off the column jacket slides off. Be careful to not loose the bearings and washers that are between the column jacket and the steering shaft. Good luck!
