I really like the swivel pintle on all the military trucks. Before I had my deuce I hired a guy with a dump truck to move my cat on a lowboy. One of the curves on my road was too sharp for his rig and he dumped the cat and trailer over the side. The binder chains held the cat on the trailer, but the twist bent the $150 pintle hook on his dump truck. To make a long story short we eventually got the cat out undamaged, but pulled one tire off of his trailer. If he'd had a swivel pintle, he wouldn't have had to buy a new pintle. Since I got started with pintle hitches, ball hitches just never seem convincingly solid to me. I like the way a pintle locks down and stays locked. It's also handy for hooking up towing chains and straps. Another nice thing about a swivel pintle is you can flip it upside down and use it to anchor the back guy wire of an A-frame hoist.
