Pintle hitch pros and cons?

It looks like I may have found an M-101a2 trailer. What are the pros and cons to the pintle hitch versus a ball hitch. I have a pintle I can attach to a ball mount to go into the receiver, or I can cut off the trailer ring and weld on a ball hitch.
