on my 42 m-37, I coverterted it to 12 volt by putting a gm one wire on. I used the pully that was on the altinator. I did have to do a little fabrication to the mounting bracket. but with a new belt from the part store it worked just fine, no need for the generators pully. but make sure you bypass the original voltage regulator mounted on the firewall, or your gonna fry the exighter/and or voltage regulator inside the altinator.
