Jeff:

The front-wheel drive is activated by an air-operated over-running clutch assembly that is often referred to as a "sprag" unit. They can be troublesome if not adjusted properly.

May I suggest that you send an email to the following email list-serve group, with your questions:

mil-veh-on@mil-veh.org

You will be asked to verify your email address, and having done so, you will begin to receive up to 50 emails or more per day about M-series vehicles, with another dozen or so about politics, guns, food, wives, politics, Power Wagons, politics, and politics.

Don't be put off by the occasional OT postings. It is populated, like this PW forum, with the usual array of experts, enthusiasts, and wiseguys. Some of the members are owners and/or dealers of 5-tons and will no doubt get you ten-wheeling again soon.

Good luck, and if you have difficulty getting messages to post, contact me privately, and I will help. Your email preferences must be set to transmit "text only", and "no html".
