Hi all,
We have snow predicted for tomorrow so I decided to put the plow on in the daylight before it snows. (there's a first!) Now remember back to the middle of December, I did the power steering conversion and the plow pump does double duty as the power steering pump. When I hooked up the plow, it seemed to work ok, but slower than before the power steering. After cycling it a couple of times I got sprayed with power steering fluid inside the cab. Upon investigation, I found that I was getting PS fluid out through the seal around the steering shaft. This wasnt happening when the plow wasnt installed. So, first, any idea why this is happening, and second, when the problem is corrected, is it likely that I have damaged the seal and or the steering box itself? A note on the plumbing, the pressure line runs from the pump to the steering box. What would then be the return out of the box is the pressure line to the plow valve body. Then the return from the valve body goes back to the pump return. There is an inline filter in the return line. So, the plumbing forms a triangle with pump on 1 corner, steering box on another and plow valve on the 3rd corner.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Tim
