It is a new rebuilt engine but I change the oil every 1,000 miles along with the filter to keep it clean. Oil is cheap and I don't drive it as much as my new Dodge. I started out with a sludge free engine and wanted to keep it that way. The Non Detegent Oil can lead to buildup of junk on the pan and walls as it does not have the cleaning detergent in it.
