A 50 year old vehicle that you can drive reliably on the interstate AND thrash offroad is a challenging combination to achieve. Regular interstate driving requires a standard of braking, handling, and safety that exceeds the design intent of the M37. I had an M37 with V8, power steering, big tires, and boosted brakes that was great on secondary roads, but regular interstate driving, at least considering the weather and the drivers here in New England, was outside of my comfort zone.
