I usually limit my attention to M37 stuff but have run across a 48b1 sitting in a field. Spoke with the owner but he said he gave it to his son-in-law many states away so he could restore....several years ago. It belonged to a company he worked for and he has the original bill of sale to the company. It is still sitting in the field. Looks to be intact although the running boards and rear fenders are pretty shot. Side windows are gone and windshield and rear window are shattered but there. Top is dented in pretty good. Interior is there but in bad shape/rusty. Seat is in pieces/ratnest. Floor boards looked fairly rusted. Engine compartment is intact. Has PTO winch complete and intact but may have wear/corrosion problems. Question, how best to court this gent? "Can I offer a Holiday FruitBasket?" Obviously his son-in-law has no intention of coming to get it since several years has passed, wink, wink. Anything I should look that would limit the restorability? What would be a ballpark price? I would call it a complete truck but in very poor condition.

Thanks for any advice,

Mark Ellis
