Here's a copy of what he wrote:

Thank you for your concern. We are up-country in the mountains well away from the coast. I went into the hospital here to fix a hernia I have had for a couple of years (couldn't afford to have it fixed in the US even with medical insurance). Total cost was $225 including 2 days in the VIP suite.
