318Poly vs 318LA vs 360LA

I may have located a 318 Poly with hydraulic clutch bellhousing to transplant into my 63WM300. Numerous people have suggested a 318 Poly. What are the advantages of a poly vs a LA, and how does a 318 Poly compare to a 360 in horsepower, torque, etc? I plan to keep my 5.83 rears and use a 5 speed OD tranny. How about parts availability for the poly and can you put a 4 barrel carb on?
