I have a hopped up 251 in my M-37 and like it more than the 230. I balanced the rotating assembly when I rebuilt it, milled the head 80 thou, built a custom intake/header exhaust with a 2 bbl, and installed a GM HEI distributor. I put on a nice magnaflow muffler and have a sweet mellow tone. I also drilled the block and installed a full flow oil system. I plan on installing a reground cam this summer with platinum plugs.
Compared to the tired non original engine that was in my truck this motor is a huge improvement. I don't worry anymore about driving all day at 3000 rpm as it just keeps purring.
