The TM 9-2800 "Standard Military Motor Vehicles Listing" using 5.83 gears lists the maximum mph at 54 and maximum engine speed at 3200 rpm to prevent engine damage from excessive engine speeds. Now can a non-governed truck be pushed beyond these numbers, sure. But keep in mind these are maximum numbers and not crusing numbers. If you want to validate the numbers provided earlier you can float your valves and tells us at what engine speed that occurs.
