There are all different strategies on Ebay...both for the seller & the bidder.
Bidding early is one of two things...either an inexperienced Ebayer or it can be used as a tool. There have been many times I haven't bid on an item because when I see who the high bidder is(powerwagonjohn)Ha Ha! & check their Ebay track record, I decide it's not worth bidding against them because they won't be outbid. Other times it can be used to warn off friends...hey...I'm bidding on this one so stay off!
See I think everyone here was hoping they could buy that truck for $3000 but after a few of the early bidders come out of the woodwork you're given a reality check as to what you're really going to have to pay to get it. Say carolinev has bid $5500...how has that made the seller any more money...that truck will likely go for double that price unless everyone's side-tracked by the holidays. I'd hazzard a guess that more than one guy here has called up & tried to out-smart the seller by trying to get the auction stopped early...no?
It's always a little depressing when you see something you really want & the bidding is just going up & up but 9 times out of 10 there's someone out there with their snipe bid software set to bid way higher than you were prepared to bid anyway....right?
Oh well...here's the answer...just start selling on Ebay instead of buying Slim!
