Years ago, when these drums were a lot more common, I had quite a few of them. I was a vocational automotive instructor at the time. Just to demonstrate the importance of turning on the hubs, we took some Power Wagon drums, turned them off hubs, put them on hubs and measured runout, turned them on one hub, then put them on another hub, measured runout.... you get the idea. The results were quite dramatic, and some of them you could actually see the runout. It hardly seems possible, but it is true, and I had a quite new, entirely accurate Ammco lathe, with heavy truck adaptors. I was able to set them up either way, but it was entirely apparent which way you should set them up.

Sorry for going on about this, but I can't emphasize it enough.
