Hey fella's,

Ease up a little! Take a plain paper bag and put it over your mouth and nose and breathe deeply several times. Come on now, when Paul stuck a 318 in his Bumble Bee along with all the other mods, and all of the other folks who have transplanted a modern engine or power train into their FFPW's or WC's all I have ever read for the most part were rave reviews. When CJ in Fairbanks and Willy N shared their projects with us all I didn't see much negative input or response. Well perhaps a little when the frame was bobbed! And those dual carbs and exhaust manifolds? If I would have had the mechanical and engineering expertise I would have loved to hung a 392 in mine. Well yeah the lack of money has something to do with it as well. If these guys do such a great job what is wrong with someone else taking it a step further? If you don't want to have yours look that good, then don't, but don't belittle someone else who loves their truck as much as you do yours. I'd wager that if one of the owners of these "horribly modified/mutilated/bastardized" trucks made you a sweet offer to buy theirs or were to give it to you, you'd fall all over yourselves to be first in line! As far as mine goes it will also be a reconstruction or resurrection rather than a full body off restoration. But as I go along if I see something that can be improved I'll try to make that effort as well. As far as the occasional ding or dent, well that just adds character. One last thing regarding information provided by the owner, just remember we all had to start somewhere in the knowledge of these old horses and not everyone is as perfect as some seem to picture themselves as. Lastly I'd wager that most of our trucks aren't original with the notable exception of those so called trailer queens that have undergone a true frame off restoration.

..Brett..
