Hey Judd.

I really truely love the look of the unrestorred iron. I get a huge kick out of Tim Holloway's truck, I mean it is a running origional that looks like a Power Wagon should! It seems that alot of the restored ones are 'overrestored'and are actually in better than new shape. Thats all good and well. BUT for me its not practical. Plus, I cannot justify having a truck that I would scared to work and enjoy. What would be the sense in me restoring my '47 WDX,and pouring $35K into a resto to only drive it 3 times a year? I dont have an inside place to park stuff right now. In the future I plan to cut the nasty tin worm damage out,To keep the rust holes from spreading, weld some patches in it, and put a coat of paint on my truck, but in no way will it be really restored. My body work aint too great, so you may see a weld seem, be able to detect a patch panel that I made, or see a wave or two in a panel, or runs in the paint etc. I am basically planning on doing this to preserve it, not restore it. Once it is done, It will get worked, and worked hard, like a Power Wagon was made for! In time, the paint will fade again, like in 25+ more years, get more dents etc. I want to go thru the mechanicals to make sure it is safe, but honestly, within the next year, I plan to get the brakes to work, get a good windshield in it, and wire it, and drive my 'Beverly Hillbillies truck' as is till I can get around to patch it up.
