A lot of the same questions as a gas truck, service record, miles(though diesels run a lot more miles), how it runs and drives. If you take it to a dealer they probably can't tell you much more than anyone else. If you know somebody with a similar truck get them to go with you. They can compare it to how theirs operate. If you get a diesel, you won`t want to go back to gas once you get adjusted to the sound.
