I had a poly in a 1963 D300 Flatbed. I loaded it with 70 sheets fo 12' sheet rock and could not notice any loss in acceleration. It just made it run smoother and ride better. Bigger cam not really necessary even if you are3 going to work with it. I used to load mine with rocks and fly on the highway. Also the mileage was incredible for 1 ton dually.
