I finally got the power steering conversion completed this afternoon and took it for a spin. WOW WOW and WOW again! I need to re-learn how to drive it. No more sawing the steering wheel back and forth to maintain a strait line. I had never realised how I would tense up my body in preparation for the workout of a tight turn. I found myself tensing up and then not having to exert any effort. It felt kind of silly. I cant wait to plow with it, that will be such a different experience than I am used to.
I used my original master cylinder. Since Ray also sells (sold?) kits for a master cyl. upgrade, he dosent put alot of info in the instructions about using the original master cyl. With it tucked under the steering box, it would be all but impossible to fill it with brake fluid, and I dont think it would be possible without removing the floor pan. Filling the master cyl. is a real pain in the butt anyhow, without also having to remove the floor. I ended up getting a clutch master cyl. remote resevior from a chevy s-10 and mounting it on the firewall. I made a new top for the master cyl. and installes a pair of 5/16" flare fittings and ran a fill line and a vent. There is almost no room to route the pipes so they dont conflict with the pedals. All in all it is a nice upgrade to the master cyl. fill.
