why did you not buy a Ford and put a cummings in it. I drive two Fords at work both 04 1 is a 550 and the other is a 350 both 4wd both crew cabs both diesel 350 srw 550 cab and chassis 350 one has 5500 miles on it the 550 about 3500 had em since early summer. turned in the 2000 chevy with the old 6.5l 4dr drw 4wd diesel auto had about 80,000 hard miles 200,000 idling in the course of the duty day. Personal truck is like yours. I am afraid I would much rather have the chevy back and the dodge has been a very good truck. Replaced the U joints 2 weeks ago the first mechanical repair since it was purchased new in Mar of 03. Cant say that for either of the Fords the 350 has been towed in twice and has already had to be rewired The 550 only once. The Chevy never quit it had no power but it always made it. Lots of Fords around here but most of the people I know that had fords have converted to the dodge in this last body change. Some of the Ford people with the Horse industry have put the cummings in the Ford. I would agree with your assesment of the Auto transmission. So I bought a stick and so far no problems. The fords run great but they suck more fuel and no matter what you did with em you would have to deal with Ford if you had major issues already done that three times. Dodge has been better to deal with. None of them are all that good. But Ford and I are done for life.
