Charlie, Chris Willsey spoke of you and said you may have an answer to my NP 540 question. I have a '64 Town Wagon Power Wagon... NP435D and 318P. Will a 540 'direct in 5th' be a straight bolt in replacement. I have 4:10s so highway speed is no problem. I cruise at 55mph to 70mph and the beast will do 104mph! They are both 13" long. I need a taller gear when I downshift on a hill in the mountains. Planning to tow an Airsteam trailer eventually. The NP435 has a 10 spline input shaft nes-pas? I need a new clutch and throw-out bearing and I think I know wheer their is a NP540D (for Dodge). The other idea was to replace the middle drive shaft with a 3spd Aux. over and underdrive. Way more fabricartion and headache though. Thanks for any info, Gary
