Anything one can do to make the surfaces mate is
a plus. I think exhaust manifolds probably go
through greater temperature extremes than anything,
so there's gonna be a lot of change. I have a friend
who will only install a used (and planed) manifold
because he feels like it would have already done its warping...
Also, Peter, just a thought....what you thought was
the reminent of a gasket, if it's one of those perf-
orated metal/composite ones, might have been all there
ever was and not as degraded as you suspect.
