If you are talking about purchasing all glass for a WC, including the windshield, doors, and rear glass, and including the steel channel, this sounds about right. And if you are just handing him rusty junk frames and glass and asking him to fix them, you are only asking for the worst. But if he is only cutting glass to put into the frame, and mounting it with sealer strip, then you are paying through the nose. I pay my glass installer $40-$50 per pane, but I give him sandblasted, primed and painted frames with correct hardware attached. He was comparable with all the auto glass places I called. Make sure you are giving him the correct instructions. And if you do need steel channel for the glass, take off parts are out there and not that expensive. There are companies who make those brand new, but they are of course expensive.
