{{Were all 1955 C-3-PWs 12 volts, or were some of the early models 6 volts ? }}

All Dodge trucks were 6 volt in 1955. Some '56 models were 6 volt and some were 12 volt. The story I heard from an ex-salesman was this was to help customers with large fleets of 6 volt trucks to avoid extra inventory. Personally, I think it was like the '55 Corvettes with 6 cylinders. These were just to use up 6 volt parts. Chrysler did the same thing in 1971 when they did away with left hand threads on all models. A few early '71s had left hand threads on the left side until the parts were used up.

Now, there were a few Imperials built in 1953-54 with 12 volt, positive ground systems but these were just the super deluxe models. Dodge Brothers did build 12 volt cars when they first started in the teens but went with 6 volt due to cheaper prices for initial construction and later replacement parts.
