Jamie,
There are always a few bad apples out there.
I posted this advice to try to assist people who are learning to use ebay.
Due to the nature of sight unseen purchasing, one should be extra careful.
What I posted are the basic tools available form ebay to help the bidder.
No venue is going to have a failsafe system that will pertect a bidder, 100%.
One must use COMMON SENSE!!! I traveled 20 hours one way to look at a '53 PW
I was not going to send a that amount of money to someone I never met, for a truck I have
never inspected, in a town 1300 miles away.
Ebay DOES NOT take any responsibility for sellers or bidders immoral or illegal actions.
Ebay tries to help if a deal goes sour. But ones best or worst defense against a scam artist,
is their own common sense. USE IT, and stop thinking that any orgainization is going to be able to protect you.
I don't mind going for a small deal through eBay of this forum, but I am never going to spend large amounts of
money for a sight unseen product from a private seller. If I do, I should not be surprised if I get taken.
Mark D
