Have you checked to see if your rubber brake line hoses were "ballooning" when pressure was applied to the brake pedal?
I had that problem a few years back on my 67 Firebird. Changing them out made a world of difference.
I wish I still had that car. 400ci with ram air hood and turbo 400 tranny.
