I dont remember what MAST stands for, but they are pants that the waist comes up very high on, above the belly button. The pants have air chambers that are blown up after being put on. The different air chambers can be blown up to different presures. Hospital OR's also have them. In non technical terms they force blood up into the torso and control it.

Ok, now we Need one of our Doctors on the forum to jump in and give a proper description of how's and where for's of MAST.
