Sorry Chris, it was late, and I was being quick.

With your info we have:

Detroit built:

83900585 May 24, 1946
83902048 October 1946

California built:

88750019 June 24,1946

That makes the CA production about 600 or so off the Detroit production in the begining.

Here is what I take from that..

1. There are not likely to be any CA built trucks made in 1945, unless they built a test model or something.

2. Given Chris's engine number of T137-1142 which makes it the 142nd engine down the line, the CA engines were either shipped out early (and it took a while for them to get in place, or get used) or there was an engine building, or stamping operation in CA.

Note that Detroit built 83900585 made in May 24, 1946 has the engine number T137-1740 which is 600 higher then a CA built truck made a month later.

If the engines were all stamped in Detroit, and there is no overlap, then the engine numbers on Detroit built trucks will be a bit high to offset the engines sent west.

3. Cabs are almost the same story as engines, Chris has body tag number 4312-179 and 83900585 built a month before on May 24, 1946 has body tag number 4312-684. There is a little less of a gap between those then the engines have, but it is about the same.

4. We need more info on this!

Anyone else have a build card they can share?

Eric
