I never mess with the salesperson, notice how their names are usually hand written on someone elses' business card? I always talk to the Fleet salesperson who is normally a fulltime employee at a dealership for years and usually is not on a 'commission only' wage.
In 2002 the Ram cab/chassis was rated at 23,600 GCWR. That's with the Cummins and 4.10 rear gear. That was with the manual transmission. It's 19,600 with the automatic. My Ram weighs approx. 8,000 empty, so that leaves approx. 15,000 lbs for cargo/trailer. I've had over 10,000 lbs in the bed and haven't made the overloads fully contact the main spring pads yet. (they touched on one end only) Take a close look at the frame, not a 3500 by any stretch of the imagination. Sadly this truck was one of the last cab/chassis. Hopefully in 2006 they will have another with the Cummins 600 in it!
