Allen, it's Damnear...ha!ha! The Mercedes Sprinter can be purchased as either a Freightliner or a Dodge, but hold out if you can for the Mega-Cab Dodge, coming in 2006(?). The 2005 Sprinter is rated at 10,200 in standard roof, 9,990 with the high roof. 27.5 mpg empty, 18.1 with a full load at 70 mph, on the Interstate. Powered by a 2.7 turbo diesel 5 cylinder Merc., plan on taking about 3 days to get to that 70 mph figure....= ) The biggest cab/chassis Sprinter has a 158" wheelbase, a tad shorter than my 163" Ram. Interestingly enough, is that Damiler has sold nearly 8 million of these Sprinters, world wide in 10 years, and as such I fear that the jerries think that this IS the medium duty Dodge of the future, so I was VERY surprised to learn about the Mega-Cab. On the downside, Damnear has cancelled big Dodge trucks twice in the last several years, the 4500 and 5500 cab/chassis line slated for production in 2003, and the Dodge Adventurer full sized SUV.
Time will tell how smart they are getting or if the USA boys can talk some sense into the eurotrash mindset.
