why are Sweptlines ugly?

the early 1960s, really starting with 1961 saw significant styling changes for most US built cars and trucks.

The glitz and glamour of the late fifties was becoming extinct....poor Exner.....

Compare the 1960 and 1961 Plymouths for example.... from beautiful to absolutely homely in one year gone by. Same with Ford and Chevy. Pontiac seemed to fair well thru this.

This happenend to all autos built by the big three and most of the independents.

Screw the chrome and lines, lets get ugly.....
