Hey Bob:

See the pic for an definition of a 'homely' truck, yes, the old IHC Loadstars! They are very homely, but yet again were some of the strongest, toughest medium duty trucks out there. You can get these old beasts dirt cheap all day long, but their biggest enemy was RUST. They may not be pretty, or even mildly attractive, but they got the job done and done well.

As for the old Dodge's we love, I see tons of old rusty beat to heck Dodge trucks running around al the time, that just keep going. I know of an older feller who has an incredibly rusty 1966 W-200 that he bought new. It is probably the ugliest, rustiest sweptline on the road, but he still uses it, astleast once a week and works just as hard for him now as it did almost 40 years ago. The 225 Slant six, keeps going strong. It still sits on 17.5 tires,The truck only has about 80K on it, but he uses it on the farm, and once or twice a week, he makes a 15+ mile run with it to get feed with it etc. it really should not be on the road, but he cannot bear to get rid of it, it runs and works so well. You have to pick the door up almost 6 inches to get it to shut tho, thats how bad off it is.

As for people keeping these trucks ,and not selling them, I have stopped in many a time at somebody's house where I have seen an older Dodge truck parked out back, Id ask about it, and 9 times out of 10, it was NOT FOR SALE at any price. Most Dodge guys in this area, have a few parts trucks outback also. And around here, all us Dodge guys know each other. Its like we are a family, like this forumn.
