Hi Bruce,
In effect the 2 inches of fluid in the bottom of the jar, already there before bleeding process is begun, acts as a 1-way valve preventing backflow of air into line, but allowing fluid to be drawn back in, harmlessly.
I won't charge any extra for the advice....
