Hi John,

I've been using one type for all hydraulic bleeding of brakes, clutches and other hydro systems for 40 years without fail or error.

One 12-16 ounce glass jar with metal lid, a couple or 3 feet of rubber hose, with an id smaller than bleeder fitting [like 1/4] and a hole punched in the jar lid for the hose to fit in fairly snugly, but not necessary to air tight.

Put about 2 inches of hydraulic fluid in bottom of jar, crack bleeder fitting with wrench, leave wrench in place, fit rubber hose over bleed fitting, and slowly purge system by pumping, keeping an eye on the fluid reservoir [master cylinder] often.

The fluid in the bottom of the jar prevents air returning into hydraulic line as you purge, and allows a visual on condition of old fluid. You can wrap the jar in duct tape if you prefer, to make it more protected from breakage. This method has never failed me and is virtually FREE, and no complicated parts to fail out in the middle of nowhere!
