Hi Doug,
That gave me a headache thinking about the possibiliteis...ha!ha! Here's the deal, if the 318 is using an early mechanical bell from a Power Giant, a NP420 or NP435 will bolt right up, IF the input shaft spline count and spline diameter match, IF the 318 originally had a manual transmission. IF the engine is out of an automatic trans equiped vehicle, you then need an adapter bushing and a modified input shaft on the transmission, BUT the stock pedals can be used, IF you are using the later hydraulic bell from a Sweptline the above mentioned transmission issues still apply, BUT you will have to change out the pedals to a hydraulic clutch set-up. Frank Irons had a neat hanging pedal set-up pictured here a year or so ago.
That is just the high points, there are a few other variables, what 318 and what transmission bell are you using?
