I live in an area within a city where you can have horses if your property conforms. Not exactly rural, but I get the same thing. I have a Cieba or Kapok tree in my 1/2 acre backyard . 11 months and 2weeks out of the year it's the ugliest thing going. But for two weeks in late summer it has orchid like flowers on it. And boy does that bring em' in. I've found people parked in my drive way perched on the back of one of my trucks taking pictures or just snooping. It's worse on the weekend.
My wife and I enjoy driving around in rural areas but we don't drive down private roads or hike on posted land. If I come to a posted area that I'd like to explore I make contact with the owner to get permission. Ocassionally I get a cranky or emphatic No! But most of the time the landowner gives their blessing and is usally pleased that we asked.
Between my brothers and I , we probably own 50,000 acres in various parts of the country. Most of which is leased out as farm land . Some parcels adjoin national forest land. I've had a situation where Pot growers took over a remote property and actually built a metal building on the land to dry their crop . Guess who had to pay to have the building removed when the cops moved in and raided them.
So I guess I'm both a Nosy stranger and a disgruntled landowner.
