Front axle question

Greetings:

I just refunded the purchase price of a pair of Selectro hubs to a gentleman who had purchased them from me. He states that the hubs will fit OK on one axle end, but will not fit over the splined end on the other side of the truck.

I asked him to measure the two ends, to see if there is a difference in diameters. He says there is no difference. In fact, the original Superwinch hubs fit OK on either side.

I just measured the two hubs, and the axle gears are exactly within specs. Does anyone here know what's the story? Without being able to see and measure his truck in person, I have to believe his measurements, but I am wondering what's up.
