I have considered that. However, two things have convinced me that owning a welder is the better choice. 1. You can't always get something welded exactly when you want it done. I went up the street to the local weld shop to get a simple tack weld done. The place was closed(it was a Sat afternoon). I went all over the place and wasted two hours looking for another weld shop. By chance a garage down the road was open and the guy did the job for me. Two minutes worth of work, and the he charged me ten bucks. HAd I had a welder, I could have saved the ten bucks and two hours time. Time means alot to me and sometimes its worth it if only in the time saved. 2. If I have a welder, I may find myself using it alot more than I envision. I only estimate that I will use it infrequently, but who knows.
