The Bandag process is quite interesting, they use a combination of vacuum and pressure to glue the treads on the tires. Goodyear uses the same technique, both are much more reliable than the old heat methods used back in the days when re-caps routinely separated from the carcass. Search for "Wingfoot" to find a Goodyear re-capper near you. Mike is correct, you want one of these professional shops, not a backyard recapper. Trucking companies routinely take unused, brand new tires to these large shops, to select tread designs and tread hardness that are not available directly from the tire manufacturers, these tires with conventional sidewalls and super tread last for many thousands of miles on over the road trucks.
