Voting for Kerry wouldn't have ended our involvment in Iraq. He might have opposed our getting involved in the first place, but he certainly understood that simply giving up and withdrawing is not an option either. The situation would not be any different if Senator Kerry were now the President Elect.

My Grandfather was a volunteer in WWI, of his five male children, four were either in WWII or Korea or in the case of a couple of them, both. My Father-in-law (retired USAF officer) and Mother-in-law (retired USAF Msgt) both served during the Vietnam Era.
My Wife and I met and married when she served in the Army and I was in the Air Force. Her brother also served in the Army.

During this election the in-laws voted for Sen. Kerry while we voted for President Bush. Although we have our differences, if recalled to service we would have gone without hesistation.

While in the short term the decision to depose Sadamm Hussein might been seen as unnecessary and provocative, the long term consequences of continued instability in the Middle East due to the growing threat of radical Islamic fundamentalism to Western Civilization and hence world stability is too great to ignore. The only solution is for Democracy to be planted and flourish in foreign soil.
