brakes

I just picked up a 1952 M37. However I have no brakes. As far as I can tell everything is there. I put brake fluid in it becuz there was no fluid in it. I have pumped the brakes about 500times and still nothing. No fluid appears to be leaking out. I was wondering if there is a secret or special way to get pressure back. If anyone can help that would be great.
