If it has the same exhaust manifolds my 400 Cordoba had they are mighty close to the valve cover and throw a lot of heat on them. I would agree with previous posts that heat shields would help a lot. I have headers on my BB '67 and have no trouble with gasket leaks since they are not close to the covers at all.
