Great Article John. To add to what was written about the Right to drive our trucks off-road, here is another except from that issue of the BlueRibbon Newsletter:
"On November 2, 2004 our national election will be held. This year's election will be an important election for all Americans and especially those who recreate on public lands.

Obviously, we have a presidential election that will determine who our Commander-in-Chief will be. In addition to the task of Commander-in- Chief, the president appoints key administrators to lead the many bureaucracies headquartered in Washington DC. The Department of Agriculture, the US Forest Service, the Department of the Interior, the BLM and the National Park Service are a few of the agencies where decisions are made as to when, where, and how we will recreate on our public land. These high level agency leaders serve the President and are chosen because they share his views on recreation and public land management. A clear understanding of where Mr. Kerry and President Bush stand on public land management is important.

I recommend that you check all available resources to find how not only the Presidential candidates stand on recreation issues but also question your local and state candidates on their respective positions. The future of your ability to recreate on our public lands and water will be determined by those who are elected to public office on November 2, 2004!

We have the right to voice our opinion on important issues but only a very few have the opportunity to vote in Washington D.C. Those individuals who actually vote are your U.S. Congressmen and your U.S. Senators. Like it or not, they have a privilege we do not have - the privilege to vote on important national legislation. Their votes are a matter of public record and can be viewed by visiting the web site (http://www.rollcall votes.com/).

If you become educated on the positions and actual votes of your current elected officials and those who seek elected office, you will be in a position to make informed decisions on November 2nd! Please be sure to become informed and cast your vote!"

I've tried to make the same point many times here, for those of you defensive types, please notice that there is no preference given to either candidate, you can make that decision yourself, after you educate yourself about the issue of Land Closures and the political groups and candidates that supports the taking of our public lands.
