I have a 98' RAM also. 1/2 ton short box w/ 5.2, and 5spd. I had the same problem a couple of times. Took the truck to several different dealers (all covered by aftermarket warranty company to the tune of $2k worth) They tried 02 sensors, charcoal cannisters, wheelspeed sensors, IAC motors, etc. etc. Always ended up trying a new set of spark plugs on my own, and always seemed to run good for about 6-8 months then plugs needed cleaned, gapped or replaced. Not sure if the intake and exhaust mods had anything to do with it, but it sure seems finnicky about the gap being just so on every plug. The truck has 75K miles on it and I'll bet I've gone through six sets of spark plugs, and the cheap ones last just as long as the expensive ones.
