You should be able to hold your hand on the TC for a few seconds only. If the retainer feels hotter than the main housing, you might be concerned. Definitely need to replace the driven gear (#25) and bearing #17 if there is surface damage to the bearing area of the gear. Recheck your cone bearing # to make sure it is the correct one. Best price – shop the part sources
