`1/2 ton WC were supposed to be built between 4/40-4/42 The vin number really did not mean that much as the military ordered them in lots and the bodys might not match the frame. The military assigned a number to the truck that stayed with it hopefully the rest of its career. But as these truck were rebuilt, cannbalized sent to different branches etc unless you are lucky enough to have a legible military vin plate on the dash. The Wc-12 pickups also had a brass tag riveted to the bed. There are other people who are more knowledgeable on this subject are try Gordons WW2 forum.
