If you can get on the uphill side of your cut, you will save you and the dozer alot of work. The other thing to consider is get yourself a roll of ribbon and a incline meter and "shoot the grade" before you get too deep into the project. The incline meter will cost about 50 to 150 bucks at a survey place, but will save you tons of cat time. I just finished a mile long driveway on my place thats side hill all the way. I ribboned the grade at 15 percent and was right on at the bottom.
