My 46 has never had a oil filter according to the origional owner it was bought that way. It still does not and it still runs the origional engine. I have thought about putting the NOS 2 quart I got for ita couple years ago off ebay but I it has run for 5 years like it is about 3500 miles a year I check the oil everytime it needs to be drove as soon as I feel any grit 5 new quarts 30 non detergent Oil pressure sits at 40 drove it 100 miles today. the filter may noy been an option but much discussion with people who are more knowledgeable and people who remember when they were new leads me to believe it was not that uncommon. my dad worked in a gas station in a farming community late 40s early 50s he remembers lots of vehicles without them and lots with a roll of toliet paper instead of a filter. my .02 cents
