If the motor has just been cleaned and rebuilt, use a detergent multi-viscosity modern oil.
If the motor hadn't been rebuilt, and sludge could still be within the motor, its best to use straight oil without any detergents in the appropriate weight for your climate. The detergents in a modern oil will cause sludge particulates to break free and circulate through the oil tubes and can cause them to get plugged.
